of the Week

You cannot appreciate your light side without knowing your dark side - that’s the lesson I got from Mario. He experienced his darkness and eventually discovered his light, or his truth and his purpose. Through his pain, he discovered his purpose of giving love relentlessly. We’re forever driven to use our gift to heal the pain around us - our eyes and ears are always open. Unlike those who aren’t led by their GPS, those who don't care, we have the ability to turn dirt into rich soil. I’ve known Mario for a long time already, and his stories bear a lot of introspection. We do a lot of work, day in day out. This week has been really taxing with challenging GrowthLabs, Ignite’s new project, and Andre being gone. We had to take over running the show. But as I learned from Mario, once your GPS is activated, you can’t switch it off. That’s my AHA moment. Keep your GPS activated and give, give, give everyday.

My uh-oh is the realization that it’s frustrating to convince people to ask questions instead of jumping into answers and ideas. This is the irony that I see - everyone wants to innovate, but nobody wants to truly change. We’re hardwired to think of solutions, and the general idea of innovation is coming up with solutions or ideas. But innovation is not just finding solutions but finding solutions that make an impact, that make a difference. That’s what sets them apart from everyone else. How do I make people more conscious of the fact that ideas must always be assessed within the context of asking questions?

What made an impact for me this week is Ico’s potluck about the streamers. I myself, am a steamer on YouTube, although I started streaming earlier than most. But I noticed during the pandemic that so many streamers were using Facebook and they bloomed at a really fast rate. It felt like my years of work was just a day to them. A friend of mine was actually inspired to stream because of me, but he actually gets to earn from it. My aha moment is the realization that I should follow what’s trending in terms of being a successful streamer and that I need a team behind me in order to be successful. To Ico’s point, I didn’t even know that there are teams behind successful streamers.

My aha! moment comes from the postcard for Opportunity Tuesday, which was to fall in love with the stakeholder and not on the solution. This has been really powerful and manifested in me over this week because of my experience with one of our stakeholders. He asked if we can help him with something that is not within the scope of our solution. Because we are molded to be in love not on the solution we are now iterating our solution.

Aha- I claimed a genius workout card this week, and I thought of my genius whether it had changed or not. I realized that being concerned about the pains and needs of others hasn't changed for me. But the workout card helps me be more aware of new gifts that I have, because there are gifts that I have that I don’t see as gifts. I realize that gifts aren’t just skills but character and behavioral traits as well.

My aha! moment this week came from the GPS Wednesday session with Mario, and it revolves around my relationship with the Lord. This pandemic is causing so much toll on myself and my health, but because of our journey with Mario, I am reminded that nothing matters more or is more important than my relationship with God. My uh-oh is that sometimes I fail to relate to the potluckers, and when it’s time to share our pabaons, I don’t have anything to give because I dwelled too much on the fact that I couldn't relate to the potlucker.

Throughout the week, trust was a focal point for several discussions and I only realized now how vital trust is to success. Trust doesn't take a backseat to other aspects of business because it is so ingrained in real customer centricity. Trust convinces your customers to buy into the why of what you do. My uh-oh moment is that I have to be more aware about looking at things at face-value - regarding JJ Viel’s case on Thursday, I really thought that his issue was logistics when in reality, he needed to clearly identify the stakeholders that were most relevant to his business. I need to improve my ability to take a step back and see the bigger picture - because in this case, if Chef JJ cannot commit to a clearcut stakeholder, logistics doesn't even matter.
