What really excites me is to see just how wrong I was and how incomplete I was today, because that means I can learn so much more in order to be better tomorrow. This to me is what innovation is about – the practice of constant improvement and iteration. And it starts with addressing pain. I started Ignite because all these practices that I have experienced in my life – the discerning of my GPS, the constant practice of innovation and bringing innovation to the world – they bring so much joy to me. But what drives me is the pain that I experience when I see how the world around me is so empty of these joys. That’s why it’s so difficult to practice and to get through to people about what we’re all about – I mean, who really practices discernment and GPS right now versus Facebook? Who challenges themselves to be wrong, wrong, wrong so that they can really get to what’s right? These are very difficult practices that have been not just a joy in my life, but are also tremendous and powerful blessings to myself and to others. It pains and saddens me when I see so many capable, smart, gifted, and even wealthy people who don’t embrace or value these practices in their lives, because they could offer the world so much more if they did.
